About

One of the original sports played at the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, Tennis is a racket sport serving up a spectacle of back-and-forth competition between individuals or pairs. Played on a rectangular court with a net in the middle, the goal is to score points by hitting the ball to the opposing side's court in a manner that they cannot return it. This rhythmic and tense sport is played in a best-of-three-sets format, with players needing to win six games to take a set. In the event a set is tied 6-6, athletes battle it out in a tie-break. At the 2028 Olympic Games, Tennis will be contested outside on durable hard courts, making for high-paced action and friction-reduced lateral movements.
